Treatment Plan Statuses and Activation

A Treatment Plan’s status tells you where it is in its lifecycle, and controls whether it can be edited or used for booking and billing. This article explains each status, how to activate a plan, and how to make changes to a plan that’s already Active.

Treatment Plan statuses

StatusWhat it means
DraftThe plan is being prepared. You can edit it.
ActiveThe plan is ready to use for appointments and billing. The plan details are locked.
CompletedAll planned Sessions or services have been used. The plan can no longer be used for additional Sessions.
ClosedThe plan ended before all planned Sessions or services were used. It can no longer be used for additional Sessions.

Which status should I use?

  • Use Draft while you’re setting up or reviewing the plan.
  • Change it to Active when you’re ready to start using it.
  • Change it to Completed when all planned Sessions or services have been used.
  • Change it to Closed if treatment ends before the plan is fully used.

Activate a Treatment Plan

When your Treatment Plan is ready to use for appointments and billing, activate it by changing its status from Draft to Active.

Before you activate the Treatment Plan, take a moment to review all the details. Once a Treatment Plan is Active, its details are locked. This keeps the Treatment Plan consistent with the appointments and billing connected to it.

Only Active Treatment Plans can be used when booking appointments. Activating the plan confirms that you’re ready to use it for the client’s treatment and billing.

Need to make changes to an Active plan?

If you need to update an Active Treatment Plan, first revert its status back to Draft. Once it’s back in Draft, you can make the necessary changes and then activate it again when everything is ready.
